Compliance is checked by inspection of the
instructions for use and with the following test:

Place a
microphone of a sound level meter complying with the requirements for a type 1
instrument as specified in IEC 60651 at the position of maximum sound pressure
level in the horizontal plane passing through the geometric centre of the front
of the part of the equipment that contains the auditory ALARM SIGNAL generating
device at a radius of 1 m or at the OPERATOR’S POSITION. Take measurements
using the frequency-weighting characteristic A and the time-weighting
characteristic F on the sound level meter. The indicated sound pressure level
when measuring BURSTS is corrected in accordance with Clause 7 of IEC
60651:2001 or a test PULSE of continuous duration is used for purposes of the
measurement. Take measurements in a free field over a reflecting plane as
specified in ISO 3744. The A-weighted background level of extraneous noise,
including any INFORMATION SIGNALS, is to be at least 10 dB below that measured
during the test.
